When you are setting up a new venue, you may need to enter existing bookings.
You probably don't want to send email notifications about pre-existing bookings, so you can switch emailing off.
Go to Settings >> Advanced Settings to switch email off temporarily.

This turns off provisional booking emails (the ones that tell the hirer a booking request has been received) and the confirmation email (telling hirers that bookings have been confirmed).
This setting does not affect invoicing. Emails with attached invoices are still sent.
