Looking for a versatile and historic venue for your next event? Water Lane United Reformed Church offers a beautiful and adaptable space perfect for a variety of occasions. Our church is a popular choice for concerts, educational activities, meetings, and exhibitions, thanks to its excellent acoustics and flexible layout.

Key Features of Our Venue

The Main Church

The principal sanctuary is a spacious, elegant area designed to seat up to 200 attendees, including seating in the first-floor gallery. At the front, a generous, raised dais provides a versatile performance space. This platform can be completely cleared—removing the pulpit, altar, and lectern—to create an open stage suited for concerts, recitals, or theatre productions. The main floor measures approximately 10 metres by 10 metres, with some sections extending up to 12 metres. The dais itself spans a radius of about 4.5 metres and a width of 7.5 metres.

Musicians will appreciate the magnificent English pipe organ, originally installed by William Hill and later refurbished by Hill, Norman and Beard. The sanctuary’s acoustics are excellent, making it a superb venue for musical events. Additionally, a modern sound system and hearing loop are available to ensure an enjoyable experience for all guests.

The Welcoming Area

Upon entering, visitors are greeted by the Welcoming Area, separated from the main sanctuary by a glass partition. This bright, peaceful space is ideal for intimate gatherings, meetings, discussions, or serving refreshments. Its usable area is approximately 10 metres by 5 metres, accommodating a variety of small group activities.
