Welcome to Handcross Parish Hall

About Handcross Parish Hall

Handcross Parish Hall was built in 1915/16, together with the Rifle Range, on land that was leased for 99 years by Mrs Lily Warren of Handcross Park and Mrs Fanny Bigg of The Hyde.  The lease was originally granted to the Diocese of Chichester with Administrative Trustees being the Rector and Churchwardens of Slaugham Parish Church.  In April 2019 a new lease was agreed between the Trustees of the Hyde and Slaugham Parish Community Land Trust, which includes the Parish Hall, Handcross Rifle Club, Handcross Social Club, Handcross Bowling Green and The Parish Hall Cottage.

The exact date when the Parish Hall Cottage was built is not known, but the bowling green was built in 1936 and the Social Club was formed in 1945/46.  The original entrance and cloakroom for the Parish Hall was used for the Social Club building and the Parish Hall was extended to include a Kitchen, Committee Room and W/C on the South Side.

The Parish Hall includes a Stage and Back stage dressing rooms, as well as newly refurbished modern heating and lighting.  The Kitchen is fully equipped with a water boiler, crockery, cutlery, gas cooker/oven and serving hatch.

The Hall can accommodate 120 people in closely seated theatre style, 140 for dances and 100 seated at tables.  We are licensed with the Performing Rights Society for performances of music and Theatre Licenses can be obtained for stage productions if required.  There is onsite parking dedicated for use of hirers and those using the Social Club, Bowling Green and Rifle Range.
