Parties, celebrations and groups large and small find a welcoming home in St Michael’s Parish Hall. This building offers a large and a small hall and a fully-equipped kitchen and is currently home to a variety of sporting, educational and social groups. The building offers access for people with disabilities, baby-changing facilities in both gents’ and ladies’ toilets and each hall has tables and chairs, and wooden flooring suitable for dancing, exercise or children’s activities. The building is available for hire in whole or in part.
Please note, new hall charges apply to bookings taking place from 1st September 2026 (see below for full details).
Until then, the following applies:
Our small hall seats a maximum of 60 people, and is available for £8.50 per hour and our large hall seats a maximum of 100 people, and is available for £12.50 per hour.
The kitchen may be hired for food preparation at a rate of £20 per hour. Access for guests in wheelchairs or with impaired mobility is via a safe and secure ramp over the entrance steps.
Following a review of hall hire charges, the Parochial Church Council (PCC) of St Michael's has approved a revised pricing structure which will take effect from 1 September 2026.
The PCC remains committed to ensuring that the hall continues to be available as an affordable community resource and is not seeking to operate it as a profit-making enterprise. However, it is important that all users contribute fairly towards the costs of providing and maintaining the facility.
To support this approach, the PCC has adopted a two-tier pricing structure which distinguishes between community and not-for-profit organisations, and commercial or private hirers.
| Hall | Rate |
|---|---|
| Large Hall | £14.00 per hour |
| Small Hall | £10.00 per hour |
| Hall | Rate |
|---|---|
| Large Hall | £15.50 per hour |
| Small Hall | £10.75 per hour |
A minimum hire charge equivalent to two hours' hire will apply to all bookings.
The introduction of separate rates recognises that some hirers use the hall as part of a commercial activity or private event, while others deliver services primarily for community benefit. Booking categories are determined by the nature of the activity taking place. Activities delivered as part of a paid service, business activity or private event are classified as commercial or private hire, regardless of any wider community benefit they may provide. This approach enables the PCC to continue supporting community groups whilst ensuring that the costs of running and maintaining the hall are shared fairly across all users.
