About Portal Hall, Burghclere

The Portal Hall was built in 1890 and sits in the heart of a lovely rural village, opposite the Church and on the edge of wonderful countryside. The warm characteristic ambience makes this an ideal venue for Clubs, Community events, Concerts, Meetings, Parties for all ages, Recreational activities, Sales, Theatrical productions Weddings, Workshops and much more. It’s ‘claim to fame’ is it was used for a Wedding Reception in Downton Abbey.

Main Hall 

• Bright, spacious adaptable space 1265 sq ft (155ft by 23ft) with a high vaulted ‘art deco’ style ceiling. 
• Can accommodate 160 people as an audience, 120 for a sit-down meal or 100 if a dance area is required. 
• Raised stage area.
• Flexible lighting system.  
• Fully equipped kitchen with a commercial dishwasher, microwave, fridge, electric oven with 4 rings. The servery area can also be utilised as a bar. 
•  3 ladies cubicle toilets, a separate men’s area and an accessible/wheelchair toilet. 
• 15 6ft Go-pak Tables, 120 Chairs and a PA System included. 
• Lawned area to the side and front which can be enjoyed weather permitting.  

Club Room

Recently refurbished to include its own separate entrance, accessible toilet and kitchenette. It is 220 sq ft (21ft by 10ft). It is an ideal space for meetings, talks or workshops. It can also be booked with the Main Hall to provide a ‘quiet’ room. 

White China – 120 place setting comprising of a dinner plate, side plate, bowl, cup and saucer. Teapots and Water Jugs also available at an extra cost.
