Braithwaite Institute Village Hall and Sports Facilities 

Braithwaite Institute comprises a large well equipped hall, a good size meeting room, large well appointed kitchen; as well as extensive grounds providing a cricket pitch, football pitch, all-weather tennis courts, bowling green, club-house and extensive parking.

Surrounded by the stunning fells of the North Lake District and just five minutes from Keswick, and 25 minutes from the M6 and Penrith mainline station, it serves both the local community and visitors from further afield.

We are also able to accommodate overnight bookings for sports or hiking groups, both in the hall, and on the sports fields; which benefit from use of showers and toilet facilities.

The hall has level access from the car park, which can accommodate up to 70 cars.

The main hall has a full stage, a small bar area, and is licensed  for:

• 175 seated at tables
• 290 dancing only
• 250 closely seated audience

We regularly host weddings, conferences, training events and AGMs. 

We are  a great base for competitive running and cycling events.

We can host large caravan and camping groups as well as climbing/hiking clubs and DofE groups.

We have two EV charging points that are available to the general public - irrespective of whether you are using the hall. To use the chargers you need the Fuuse App.
