About HemLock Community & Sports Pavilion

WELCOME TO OUR SITE  - Firstly a huge welcome to our page. This facility is operated by the local Parish Council on behalf of the Hemington Recreation Ground Charity (508786).  All proceeds remain within the Charity and your support is much appreciated.

Overview - The Pavilion building sits on Hemington Recreation Ground which is located between the lovely conservation villages of Hemington & Lockington. The building is configured into two parts, which can operate independently as a ‘Community Room & Kitchen’ or a venue for 'Sports Changing & Showers'.  Both parts can be hired together if required.  There is also ample outside space on the recreation ground for outdoor events.  The building is equipped with a fast fibre Wi-Fi connection.

Community Room & Kitchen - The community room is an area of 10x9 metres  with a ceiling height of 2.7 metres.  The ceiling contains a  high quality mounted projector & screen with amplifier and speakers which can be accessed via blue tooth or a physical connection to the amplifier.  Table & chairs are included in the hire. There is a light and airy feel to the space with eight windows and a set of french doors opening onto the terrace which provides access to the outside area. The community room would therefore be ideally suited for a range of community activities such as coffee mornings, birthdays, christenings, educational talks, games nights, film nights, yoga, pilates, etc.   Additionally business and corporate users have access to the fast Wi-Fi and the high quality projector & screen for meetings via an HDMI connection.

The hire costs include access to a  small well equipped domestic style kitchen with oven & hob, microwave, dishwasher and two fridges. A lowered serving hatch for accessibility opens into the community area. Crockery, glasses and cutlery are provided subject to numbers. 

The  capacity is likely limited by the type of event and the room layout requirements rather than the fire certificate which allows for over 100.  

Note the Pavilion is not permitted to sell alcohol and is not designed with bar facilities.  Sensible private consumption will  however be allowed.  This is therefore not a suitable venue for adult parties.  However Lockington Village Hall can  provide facilities for this type of event.

Sports Changing Room & Showers

There are two gender neutral changing rooms each constructed to FA Step 7 requirements.  Each contains  four showers ( one of these is ambulant), and two toilets and washbasins.   There is also an Officials changing area with a separate shower and toilet. These can be hired with or without shower facilities. They are designed to support on site football and cricket for the local village teams and primary school but can be used for any outdoor activities.

Outdoor space - There is a large outdoor space.  At the  right hand side of the site there is a high quality adult football pitch . An artificial cricket wicket is situated in the centre. The space directly in front of the Pavilion is currently available for general use and supports 7 aside junior football for the local school and football club with moveable goalposts.  This has been used for school sports day, weddings, village fete's and corporate team building in the past.   

Accessibility - The site is fully accessible with three disabled parking spaces and ramps to the main entrance and terrace. Inside an accessible toilet and shower are available as are two ambulant showers in the changing rooms.

Baby Changing - Baby changing facilities are available in the accessible toilet/shower area.

Car Parking -  There is car parking on site for 30 cars which includes the three disabled spaces.

Getting There - The site is located near Castle Donington and East Midlands Airport and within one mile of both Junction 1 of the A50 and Junction 24 of the M1.  The post code is DE 74 2RF.
